When I was 3 years old, my mom read me a bedtime book that, even as a toddler, changed my life. The book, titled simply “Roland,” told the story of a boy who could create drawings that, with the use of the word “crack,” would magically come to life. Though not as well known as “Harold and the Purple Crayon,” it was the story that drove my compulsion to draw and create art.
The work on this site is the most recent manifestation of my belief that art does somehow come to life. At least for me when I create it and hopefully for you when you view it. Each portfolio, with the links to them below, contains 12 pieces. They are not chronological in terms of when they were created, but they all reflect my fascination with the many ways that we, as human beings, receive visual information. Whether it’s perceiving “real life” or looking at photography, art, and animation via TVs and our numerous electronic devices, we have this almost surreal experience of existing in multiple worlds.
I hope you enjoy and are intrigued by the worlds I’ve created.
